Spy photos: 2007 Volkswagen Touareg

It's not scheduled to go on sale until next spring, but the refreshed 2007 Volkswagen Touareg looks like it's ready for production now. It should be, after all the only changes are some minor revisions to the headlights and taillights along with a few interior upgrades. There's a new pop up navigation system, revised seats and other minor switchgear changes.
In Volkswagen's typically confusing style, the current Touareg is already on sale as an early 2007 with the new 3.6-liter V6 its only upgrade over the 2006 model. Next spring, the refreshed version will debut as a late '07 using the same engine lineup. Adding to the confusion will be the reintroduction of the V10 diesel this fall. It will be sold in all 50 states for a period of about three months, but then will revert to 45-state status after the first of the year since it doesn't meet the more stringent diesel emissions rules which go into effect in 2007.

The new eyes give it some flair that was previously lacking. The old model looked too much like a '99 Passat up front.

Interior still looks great.

The 3.6l engine is a much more significant upgrade. Now the V6 can get out of its own way.

wouldn't you know it, I only have 3 months to get a diesel.

Too bad it isn't the one I want.

I agree, the headlights add some style to the rather plain looking front.

Its also so robotic like... I like the interior but it'd be nice if the phone holder was an option. If it ism i hope it is placed elsewhere.

Any more details on the NAV? Is it finally going to be DVD-based? What about satellite radio?

why do you think the navi is pop-up now? there's been a storage bin on top of the dash, if that is where you got the idea, otherwise this looks like a model that just doesnt have a navi. seems a little costly and pointless to relocate something that works fine... just a thought

New healights look great there a big step forward from the previous versions. And the interior looks nice but i would have to see a picture of the current models interior to spot the difference appart from there not being a nav system in this one pictured here.

Anyone noticed how more of that plastic trim is MIA?

>> Any more details on the NAV? Is it finally going to be DVD-based? What about satellite radio? < It is already DVD-based. Since 2005.5 MY >> why do you think the navi is pop-up now? there's been a storage bin on top of the dash, if that is where you got the idea, otherwise this looks like a model that just doesnt have a navi. seems a little costly and pointless to relocate something that works fine... just a thought < Probably because the US Touareg's dash bin doesn't have a bin cover like the one pictured. So someone in the US might think there was something under that. However, going by the license plate holder and airbag de-activation key (to the right of the gear shift lever), this is a ROTW (rest of the world) Touareg. So it would have the afore mentioned bin cover.

I've got a '06 V-6 and Like everything about it except the lack of power, so I may drive the new V-6 and compare the engines. I wonder if the gas mileage is improved?
