It was only a matter of time before GM slipped up and left one of its new 2007 Chevrolet Silverado trucks out in the open. Well, maybe not out in the open, but open enough for a good spy shooter to snag a few pics during a commercial shoot. After seeing so many prototypes before, the look of the new Silverado pickup isn't too much of a surprise. Other than the big chrome grille and wraparound headlights, it's not radically different from the current model. Expect to see this truck debut along side the 2007 GMC Sierra by the end of the year.

Interesting. I doesn't share body panels with its SUV brothers. I thought for sure that it would, as in the past.
Not sure I like the macho fender bulges. I prefer the smoother fenders on the Tahoe and Suburban.

How do I get pictures of this truck?

Looks almost exactly like the Colorado from the side.

Here at the construction company I'm in, a lot of us like that we can grab things out of the sides of our older trucks. The new half-tons aren't any more convenient than the heavy-duty trucks.
And that rear high-up bumper is going to leave nasty marks on cars in tight parking lots.
rsholland says:

I see your point. It would be convenient if it had a 2-way tailgate like the Ridgeline easy access to the bed.

Too much like the Avalanche

This is by far the UGLIEST truck I've seen (next to the Dodge Dakota). I thought for sure that GM would get the styling right; but I guess I was wrong. The Avalanche is SO much better looking and would be my choice if I absolutely had to buy a GM truck.

It is so 70s compare with the new Tundra.
sorter says:

And probably less HP and Torque than a Tundra also

Nice truck! I hope the interior looks like Tahoe.

Okay, so the questions are: Will GM release the HD models along with this 1500 seen here? And will they look any different?

It looks great. It looks a lot better thatn that ugly Tundra coming out. GM and Ford are the only ones that know how to design trucks.

Looks great! I totally dig the tough looks and this looks way better than the new Tundra or Titan.
Hope the interior is much improved, on the last truck that was its weakest point. Also hoping for a really strong engine to blow the Tundra away.

At first the fender flares threw me a bit, but after a second look I really like it. I especially like the new front end treatment!
ateixeira says:

I like it. Thumbs up. The front end in particular is the cleanest from any GM truck ever.
The flares are OK, the profile doesn't look as good as that front angle shot.

Chevy is stealing bits and pieces of designs from other vehicles rather than use something that is new and cutting edge.
The grill is from a 1968 C10 with chrome added. The headlights are a mid 1980s Dodge minivan. The quarterpanels and side mirrors are borrowed from the Nissan Titan. The Rear Doors andTaillights from the Dodge Ram. The wheels are on Ford F150 and the 2007 ToyotaTundra.
I wonder if the 2007 Silverado SS will look like a cross between a 1996 Ford Lightning, 2007 Tundra, and a Chevy II Nova?
Come on, GM, this is 2006, a few styling ques for heritage purposes is great, but a pickup truck in 2007 should be tough and versatile, but it should have the looks that will turn peoples heads saying "I wish I could have that." GM states they want to evolutionary in their design rather than revolutionary. With that thinking is the reason why they are number.2 in pickup sales and not leading the pack.

why don't chevy/gmc offer a crewcab short bed in the 1 ton model?

Slow down GM, one truck at a time! It looks like they are trying 5 different designs at once here, and the result is this very odd looking thing. BTW, that front bumper, you know, the one you yoinked off a Dodge Ram, isn't fooling anyone. Start over, GM.
