Spy photos: 2007 Acura MDX

We saw it first as a lightly veiled concept at the New York auto show, now our latest spy photos reveal exactly how the 2007 Acura MDX will look when it goes on sale later this year. There are no big surprises on the outside as the MDX appears faithful to the concept with its chevron-shaped grille and sloping roofline. Although our interior shot is the first glimpse of the cabin, we wouldn't call it shocking either. The MDX looks as though it will borrow the RL sedan's navigation system along with its penchant for big chunks of wood throughout the interior. Everything else looks like standard Japanese luxury vehicle, with plenty of storage, cupholders and power points.

Nice step forward in design. I wonder if that wood is of the plastic variety?

Love the interior but i`m not a fan of the exterior styling even though it looks much better then the current version.

It appears to be loaded down a bit in the back, so that it's hunched a bit. I believe that is what is making the rear tires look a bit small.

I agree, nice interior. The old one was too plain, this has a bit more style. That's a lot of buttons, though.

Exterior looks OK, I worry about visibility.

Does anyone else recognize this tail lamp design from other cars? I recall seeing it on Audis( A4 and Q7), Saabs( new 9-5), and on the new honda civic sedan. I think its time for car designers to try to think up better tail lamp designs rather than just flipping a 2000 BMW 3-series' tail lamps over.

The interior uses REAL wood, not the fake stuff in the current MDX. This interior should have equal or better interior materiials than the Acura RL and we all know that that car is crafted very well.

There are rumours of a V6 CD-i diesel available later on down the line. But Acura states that the gas version has more than 300hp so it should be very powerful and of course it ditches the VTM-4 for the SH-AWD system.

Does anyone have inside information regarding gas mileage for the redesigned MDX? That will be a determining factor for my next automobile purchase.
