Domestics are closing the productivity gap

According to The Harbour Report North America 2006, the domestic auto industry is closing the gap in productivity between them and the Japanese brands; good news indeed. A byproduct of improved productivity is improved quality, which is also good. More info here.

Keep it up. It would be nice to see them get an edge, given the higher legacy costs (pensions) compared to most competitors.
