Ford and Mercury hybrid sales up 50% in April

While it's expected that overall Ford sales will be down in April, that's not the case with the Ford Escape hybrid and Mercury Mariner hybrid, as their sales are up 50% in April. So far it looks like these two models are couple of Ford's "Better Ideas."

Preliminary numbers indicate Ford's hybrid sales were up 75 percent compared with March, Ford spokesman Monte Doran said.

Ford is expected to post an overall decline in April sales on weak demand for its traditional SUVs. Automakers are expected to release monthly U.S. sales results on Tuesday.
