Edouard Michelin dies in boating accident

Edouard Michelin , the great-grandson of the tiremaker's founder, and CEO of the company was killed in a boating accident off the coast of western France. Michelin and a friend were aboard the boat, when it sank. There was no immediate explanation as to what caused the accident, nor has his boating partner been found.

"He was brilliant, dynamic and profoundly human," France's Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said in a statement. "With his death, the French economy tragically loses one of its leading figures."
