What's the dumbest thing you've seen drivers do, or that you have done while driving?

How about flossing teeth?

Snippet: By chance, I spotted my first flosser a few days later. It was scary.

I didn't recognize him at first. The Acura in my rear-view mirror swerved, just enough to get my attention...
There was something funny about the driver. Were those wings fluttering on either side of his head?

No, they were his elbows, sticking straight out. They wiggled as he moved BOTH HANDS back and forth near his teeth. I got a better view when he passed me, still working that white string across his pink gums.

I imagine he was steering with his left knee.

I guess the bigger question is have you done anything stupid while driving?

I know I have. Years ago (I mean many, many years ago!), I was riding my 305cc Honda Super Hawk (that should give you an indication of how many years back) and smoking a cigarette. Yeah, I know, hard to believe... Anyway, I was riding along when I felt a bit warm around my midsection. As I rode further I was getting warmer and warmer. So I  looked down to find my jacket on fire as I'm motoring on down the road. It turned out a lit ash got caught in a coat pocket, and the rest is history... This must have been quite a site for passing motorists, as this was at night, and to see a biker somewhat ablaze must have caused some rubber-necking, for sure.

So, can anyone top that?

Wow, the flaming jacket story is tough to top. I regularly see people riding bicycles while talking on their cellphones. This is bad enough, but some of them have the phone wedged between their head and their shoulders. The last one I saw doing this was also riding up the wrong side of the road!

I once saw a man eating a bowl of spaghetti while he was driving. Looked pretty awkward.

And I always see women putting on makeup, even on the freeway. That's my pet peeve. I want to pull them over and tell them they are giving women drivers a bad name.

I've seen countless dogs on the laps of many Escalade driving, Starbucks drinking soccer moms, but the largest dog I've seen so far was a golden retriever on the lap of a woman driving a spankin' new Escalade.

About two months ago, I saw a man hanging out of the driver-side window of his pickup. Both arms were outside the cab and he proceeded to clip his fingernails. Granted, he was going about 20 MPH, but it is still the most disturbing thing I have seen on the road.

I saw a pair of wannabe Fast-n-Furious drivers in their subcompact Honda Civics (complete with green body / imitation carbon fiber hoods and coffee can tailpipes) racing through the interstate traffic on the way home from work one day. They were maybe five feet apart, weaving in and out of the congested traffic, coming up as close to bumpers of other cars as possible before weaving in front of the car in the other lane (cutting them off) then swerving back over to the other lane in front of the other car with what looked like inches to spare. And when the came up on one truck passing a slower car one headed by on the right shoulder.. The police are never there when ya need em, are they?

A friend's sister had a newly adopted dog in her car, and was petting it, before you know it the dog was by her feet and tangled with the pedals. Crash. The dog was named "Boo Boo". :-)

I've seen people with unrestrained kids jumping around the car. Like this one lady in a white Mercedes E Class had her son sitting on the center console and he was moving around, even sticking his head out the sunroof at 120km/h. Imagine if some small particle were to fly into his face. Ouch.

And there was another time I saw some man driving a Chevy Astro, with a really small baby on his lap.

Recently I saw some young guy in a Nissan Maxima I think watching a movie on the aftermarket LCD screen and driving.

What a bunch of idiots!

I floss every day in my car, but I wait until I am at a stop... usually.
