Dodge is quietly releasing a refresh for the not-so-hot Durango. According to Automotive News it will make its debut at the Dallas auto show. We've never liked the droopy-eyed look of the current model, and judging by its lackluster sales we weren't the only ones. The new look also paves the way for the addition of the Durango hybrid to the lineup, a move which is expected sometime next year. The Durango hybrid will combine electric power with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8. Dodge officials are claiming a 25% increase in fuel mileage over the standard model. Sales of the standard 2007 Durango are expected to begin in August.

The hybrid is to get 25% better mileage? Well, 25% better mileage from what it got aint that much. Lets look at the GM hybrids. 1mpg better. 25%...well...we'll see.
Looks just like the old one : )

The front is a little more plain, and boy are those headlight and grille huge. But I guess that's the current fashion.
The refresh does make it look more like the Chrysler twin, though, so now there's not much to distinguish the two.

Looks good, but very 2003-2006 Expedition like. Fortunately the Expedition will get a makeover for 2007 so it will look different.
The styling is clean but I think it looks less aggressive than the previous style, which is bad because this is a Dodge after all. :(

Chevy's hybrids are expected to only increase by 1mpg over non-hybrids? Where'd you get those numbers from? The DoD / AFM engines are getting about that, but I'm pretty sure all the press materials on the upcoming Tahoe / Yukon / Escalade are quoting the same 25% bump for them when their hybrids arrive (not here yet either).
I think the styling is better now, even if it does look more like some of its kin. I'd rather the headlight circles were swapped (inner overlapping outer), instead of the other way around like it is now- sort of gives a little bug-eyed look the way they did it. But overall I like the changes. Thumbs up.
