2007 Suzuki XL7

Suzuki just debuted the all-new XL7 at NY. This vehicle, which shares the Chevy Equinox platform, is light years ahead of the old outgoing model; and like its smaller SX4 brother—extremely roomy. Other than the name, the only other thing it shares with the old XL7 is 3-row seating ability.

It comes with a 3.6L DOHC V6, a 5-speed automatic, and will be on sale in the fall...

Just what we need, another badge-engineered Equinox/Torrent. Instead of Suzuki trying to be just like all the rest, I'd much rather see the very cool Swift sold in the US.

I agree... America is long since exhausted with badge marketing/engineering.

Well, I think it's a better rebadge then the Torrent was of the Equinox.
I prefer this just because of the better engine. Wheelbase is the same so al they did was extend the end for the 3rd row. I assume it's the same hatch being used.

It's too bad that GM didn't put this much effort into separating the torrent and equinox. Instead of being ditto they could have been different. Neither one offers a better motor or 3rd row seating.
At least this one is different!

I'm not at all for badge re-engineering either, but this looks nothing like the Equinox/Torrent. I think Suzuki did a pretty good job with this SUV, except it could use larger fenderwells/wheels/tires. And at least this car uses a modern technology engine with DOHC, unlike the Equinox/Torrent.

I'm in line for one now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
without the optional 3rd row, more cargo than the nox/torrent, far better engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 Looks great Suzuki!!

Oh God. It has 4 doors, 4 wheels, an engine, a rear hatch, seats, steering wheel, stereo, and climate control! It's a badge engineered Honda! Too many people gripe about platform sharing, when there's really nothing wrong with that at all, especially when the platform in question isn't bad in the first place. So long as it's not a straight rebadge (and this definitely IS NOT) and each vehicle gets a style and features of its own, what's the problem? This looks like a nice entry from Suzuki.

The only thing I worry about is that IT will get a kissin-cousin from Saturn when the new Vue comes out that is a lot more similar than the other vehicles on this platform are at the moment (maybe engine and all?). Saturn really needs to keep the Vue in the running, but hopefully they can get there without being identical to the Suzuki.

I had a 2001 XL-7 limited and sold it for the new interior of the 2003 XL-7 (also a limited) and have only 18k on the one I have now. I like the new XL and have narrowed down a new vehicle to the new XL or the new Ford Edge. Will just have to see. The new Xl looks really good. then again, I may buy a 5 year 60k extened warrenty for the one I have now and jsut keep it for two more years.

Just so you know Suzuki approached GM with the concept version of the XL7 and said..make it work. So, the XL7 was designed and built in Canada by GM.
