Looks like Nissan is going after the other side of the compact SUV market. It's done well with the off-road oriented Xterra, now there's a more city friendly SUV in the works. Its styling is similar to the midsize Murano, but this front wheel drive unibody sport ute is expected to use both four- and six-cylinder engines. Infiniti may get a version as well to go heads up with the BMW X3.

Sure looks a lot like the Murano.
Maybe once this comes out they'll let the Murano get a little bigger, like what Toyota is doing with the RAV4 and Highlander.

I think you are thinking of the Nissan X-Trail; they are sold in Mexico as well as Canada. The couple I've seen remind me of the old Jeep Cherokee in size and it's boxier than this new compact SUV appears to be.

Looks like a Toyota Matrix (circa 1999-2001) to me. Guess it's called the Rogue now.
