Long-wheelbase Chrysler 300 to debut at New York

Borrowing a page from their German S-Class cousins, Chrysler will introduce a 300 with a six inch longer wheelbase at the NY auto show next month. This will not replace the current 300, but will be an addition to the lineup. Reportedly the car will go on sale in the fall.

At first I thought this was an elaborate April fools' joke, but I guess it's legit.

I think it's a good idea. They can steal some Lincoln Town Car sales, though a lot of them may end up in fleets.

Sales are targeting the livery (fleet) market in fact, which is why NY was chosen as the launch car show -- the northeast represents 49% of livery sales in the U.S.
