French police claim their old Peugeot 306 S16s and Renault Megane Coupes are too slow, so they have added 63 new AWD Subaru WRXs to the police fleet.
Snippet: The police forces are among the most faithful clients of the local car makers, but this time the French offerings were just too slow.
"These new vehicles will allow the national police to fight the most serious and most dangerous road offences," the Gendarmerie Nationale, part of the defence ministry, said on its Website.

Turbo Subies are used as police cars in a number of countries, so I'm not that surprised here. Frankly (as an owner of a '06 WRX), I think they would make great police cars here too, and not just in the snowbelt.

While we're on this topic... For those of you who live in Los Angeles, please keep your eyes out for new chaser units... They are hard to spot, Ford FiveHundreds. They're not even in black and white! it was in "Dark Shadow Grey Clearcoat Metallic"! How do I know this? I saw him pull a guy over on the 110 North near Pasadena on Friday... Be careful...
