Snow traction test

Canadian Driver, with help from the Motorsports Club of Ottawa, just did a large comparison snow test called "Traction 2006" that involved a whole range for vehicles including: SUVs, AWD cars, hybrids, microcars, and minivans,

The results are rather interesting, in that rarely do we ever see all these vastly different types of vehicles being compared. Most of the vehicles were equipped with standard-issue tires. A few had snow tires, and two had both snow and all-season tires, so that they could be swapped to see the difference.

Very interesting and useful info, thank you! Will keep it in mind!

Noted the RWD car did worst of all, even with traction control (ahh, what's new is old again...). ;-)

I had a 300C, and it did great in the snow. Never had any major trouble. And if things did start to go off track, the brilliant ESP stepped in flawlessly. I also think it's easier to correct a skid in a RWD car. My current car is a G6 GTP; and, while it's competent in the snow, I don't like how the front end slides to the side under acceleration in the snow.
