Delphi and UAW showing signs of progress

They're not out of the woods yet, not by a long shot, but there have been a few positive signs emerging from the Delphi and UAW discussions.

"Reality becomes starker as the deadline approaches," says David Cole, chairman of the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor. He rates the likelihood of a crippling strike as low, and says the high percentage of retirement-eligible workers at GM and Delphi makes a settlement more likely.

It is widely believed that if a strike should occur, it could drag GM into bankruptcy, as so many GM parts are sourced from Delphi...

Maybe the UAW should wake up and realize that without an employer, they have no benefits, no retirement and no pay.

A strike won't happen. Delphi, GM, and the UAW will reach a deal.
