In what must be one of the more bizarre pieces of automotive news I've come across lately, is that the Europeans will shortly be treated to the 3-ton king-of-bling SUV from Cadillac
. I'm curious as to who they think will buy this? Does Cadillac think it will compete with Porsche Cayennes, or Range Rovers, or the Mercedes ML and BMW X5—in EUROPE—on their home turf? Good luck...
I would hope the Euro-calade will offer the GM DuraMax diesel, at least as an option. The 405 bhp 6.2L gas engine will surely kill you when you go to fill up at the petrol pump.
I will say this: This will get Cadillac noticed in Europe, and getting noticed is half the battle in selling vehicles. So far Caddy has been pretty much a no-show luxury wannabe brand in Europe. So, who knows, maybe it's a smart marketing move on their part?

I hope it's the new Escalade they plan on sending over - the one with the decent fit & finish ... not the one shown.
I bet most of the people who would buy an Escalade over there wouldn't have to worry too much about what they pay at the pump...
It definately has some tough competition, but, it will be good for those who want to stand out.

They can use it as a status symbol, not plan to sell a lot of it.
