GM's new SUVs at the L.A. car show

As we all know, GM is banking heavily that the all-new full-size SUVs (and pickups), that are just about to hit the market, will be a big step in reversing their corporate sales slide.

My gut feeling: Maybe, maybe not.

Frankly, I think the new SUVs are very handsome. In fact they're the best looking full-size SUVs ever from GM...
That's my opinion, anyway. The problem is, as I see it, this is what the last generation GM truck should have looked like. These (to me) are brand new 1999 models, not 2007 models. GM did not move the SUV bar a whole lot higher—I don't think...

If I were in the market for a full-size SUV, one of the "must-haves" for me is a split 3rd-row seat that folds flat into the floor. The new SWB Tahoe, et al, can't do that. I'm not sure about the Suburban. As of this post date I haven't seen any pictures of the 3rd-row seat folded. My suspicion, is that it can't, otherwise I'm sure GM would be touting that feature.

Oh well, good try GM. I wish you well with these new trucks, as god knows you need it; but for me, it's close but no cigar. As far as I'm concerned you guys are still playing catch-up, and have yet to jump to the head of the class.
