Geely - smells global?

Geely - Edmunds.com

Geely, a Chinese automaker owned by one of the richest men in China, Li Shufi, is making a few bets that if played right will have you opening your wallet for the likes of a Beauty Leopard.

First, Geely  is one of the few Chinese autmakers that actually designs and develops cars.  The majority of China's automotive factories just do assembly for foreign labels - Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda and a growing handful of others.  Second, Geely has entered into a number of joint ventures to build a full service network - sales, repair, maintance and leasing.  Third, Geely has lined-up spare parts suppliers outside of China - from Germary, Italy and South Korea.

However, Geely may need to revise their vehicle names for the US market.  I can't see people getting excited about names like Beauty Leopard, Uliou, Maple and Merrie.  Who knows, maybe people want a Beauty Leopard in their garage.

Sounds like global car company to me!
