The Ridgeline as "Truck of the Year."
The Civic as "Car of the Year."
And this is from a "Motown," newspaper, no less. So the Ridgeline has now won the Motor Trend "Truck of the Year" award, and now this award. Anyone betting it won't also win the NAIAS "Truck of the Year" award? Not me...
I haven't looked that closely at the new Civic yet. I do know one thing: it is extremely roomy, as the sedan has a longer wheelbase than the Subaru Legacy (yes, Legacy!). Not so wild about the digital speedo, however; and I would think cleaning the inside of the extremely large and slanted windshield would be a real chore.

A surprise, given the home field advantage the Big 3 enjoy, but not a very meaningful award.
North American Car & Truck of the Year will be, though. When is that announced?

I like digital speedos. They're easier to read, and they're closer to your regular line of sight: both qualities increase safety.

I disagree that they're easier to read. I find the constant pulsating of numbers changing as your speed increases or decrease to be very distracting and annoying.

I agree that Honda will likely sweep these awards, but I don't think they deserve it for Truck of the Year. I personally find it ugly, and it's not really a good truck. It's more like a crossover with a bed. A nice crossover, but not a truck. Didn't all the struts on the Edmunds' long-term Ridgeline get busted the first time they took it off-roading on a mild dirt road? Doesn't sound like my personal definition of a good truck.

i own a ridgeline, have driven it under every weather condition, towed with it ....it is the best truck .. i have every owned. i am a truck guy and this is a handsome SUT that still gets attention. so to all you naysayers...wake up and taste the sake....!!!
i cannot say enough about this fine balance midsize truck. if you want bigger well go buy a tundra....the big 3 get it together or get out of the way. i always buy quality not name brands that sit on their past greatness....
good show honda...!
