Despite news to the contrary, Mercedes will indeed continue producing the G-Class
off-roader. Earlier reports had it that the G-Class would be replaced with the new upcoming GL-Class , which will be based on the just introduced ML, but will larger, and presumably it will be more of a heavy-duty type of vehicle, as well as being more off-road capable. So it sounds like the GL will split the difference between the road-oriented ML and the off-road G.
