If you had the dual zone auto climate control (not available on SkyActiv models), the red and blue temperature arrows on the knobs also flash accordingly when you adjust the temperature.

Speaking of Mazda3 interior lighting, I purchased LED lighting kits from CorkSport as Christmas gifts for our Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3. They are direct replacement LED modules that replace all of the interior lights. They are shaped so no modifications are needed; just pop out the incandescent bulb and pop in the LED module. They are brighter, cast a whiter light, and draw less power. I love them. All of the lights are easy to access except the glove box light, which requires removal of the lower dashboard on the passenger side. The kit even replaces the license plate lamps.

I like the new blue color on the illumination effects (compared to the more overdone red lighting on the first gen Mazda3). But, it would have been way cooler if they'd actually synchronized the illumination effect to the sound system!
Fortunately, these illumination effects can be disabled for those who find it cheesy.

My 2009 CX-9 with the Bose stereo has this but it's less dramatic. It's called Illumination Effect and you can turn it on and off. When it's on, the red back lighting around the volume knob gets slightly brighter when you're making stereo adjustments. It would be distracting if it was noticeable. But it's not so it qualifies merely as silly. In the new 3 it seems to be much more dramatic which makes it less silly but maybe more distracting.
