"A missing pad could result in reduced brake system performance"... has to be the understatement of the year!

LOLz, GM should've also been sold to some foreign company like Fiat or VW or whatever, seems like they still can't do anything right...

Sh!t happens, but how on earth was this not caught by the factory at final inspection?

This story broke about a month ago, and it is pretty shameful. There is some debate about whether the pads are installed at Daewoo before the transaxle is shipped to the US, or whether the pads are installed here. Either way, it's bad.
However, I'm shocked that it takes up to 3 hours for the repair. I just changed pads, rotors, shoes, and drums on 6 wheels the other day in 4-1/2 hours (Hyundai & Kia) in my own garage.

Well - for what are you waiting? Go out and check and let us know if they are missing.

I would think it would be fairly obvious if these were missing, like the first time someone moved the car. How did they get out of dealerships?

And you liked this over the Mazda 2... Why?
GM will wow you with the power, then drop a deuce when it comes to reliability. Shifter falling apart, no brake pads, pockets where vents should be...
Come on, GM. This is a Daewoo. You bought the worst of the Korean manufacturers and ACDelco'd it to death.

"How did they get out of dealerships?"
Well, the car that the problem was first discovered on was a rental, so it may not have actually seen a dealer first.

Aren't all cars driven off of the factory line, even a short distance, to the transport. By then you'll know if you're missing something extremely critical to a car, the brakes.

The recall is for a potentially missing BRAKE PAD and they send a letter via snai mail? GM couldn't find a phone number for anyone they sold a Sonic and warn them not to drive their $18K piece of rubbish?

Yes and they still owe 25 billion to the US taxpayers!
