2012 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ: Slot Car

SonicSlot01.jpg So, there's this purposeful-looking slot dead-center on the Sonic's center stack... Is it some sort of audio-related port? Nope. It's much simpler than that, but certainly convenient.

Clever. But would probably have made more sense somewhere off to the side....

Aww . . . Sonic's first credit card. (After Sonic's first bungee, first skydive, first etc . . . )

Is there something wrong with my computer? The bottom picture is overlapping the left side of the text.

@ed124c: I get this too. Also on some other posts.

@tomslick2: Yeah, I just came from the post above and had the same anomaly, but not as bad as this one.

That is a very cool idea that I don't recall seeing in acar before. The perfect place to stash the parking pass or ticket for easy retrieval.

Does an i-Pod or i-Phone fit in there? I just compared my i-Pod to my I.D. badge, and it seems like it might fit. It would be kinda cool if there was an i-Pod dock down in there. Otherwise I don't think I would use it for anything. It reminds me of the small cubby below my aftermarket deck. Just collects dust.

@csubowtie,
There is a spring-loaded "holder" hidden inside the slot that grips whatever you put in there, so I think an ipod will be too thick.

Man I would have loved to have this in the Chevy I drove back when I had to swipe an ID card to get into my office's parking garage.

Looks like a bitch to clean.

The lamented and outgoing Aveo had this as well, but on the door panel below the power mirror switch. It's a neat idea and was one of my favorite features on the car. So the Sonic can't get full credit on this

I didn't know about the spring-loaded "holder". That actually makes it a bit cooler then for holding things like parking in/out tickets or cards. At first I just thought it was a cubby.
