1985 Porsche 911: Love/Hate

Rothmans-Porsche.jpg

I'll admit it. I still want to love our 911. Just this morning I caught myself watching online videos of 911s sliding around in gravel and snow. I might hate the reality of our 911, but I love the romance of 911 race cars. Like this replica of the 1984 Dakar-winning car (technically a 953, I suppose).

Want.

Videos after the jump.

Not bad, eh? And, this is a newer, much less air-cooled rally car, but just listen to it.

Fix the two dead cylinders perhaps?

I'd hate it too if 11.1 sec. 0-60 Pontiac Transports were hole-shotting my supposed 6.1 sec. 911 from every light.

Pontiac spec is from M/T 1996, though perhaps they had some gooofy supercharged option?

911 spec is for an 84 model, but even running on four cylinders, it should come close to matching a Transport.

What does the Zen guy say about such putrid performance?
