2012 Volvo S60 T5: Seat Comfort

volvo_seat_1600.jpg

I used to own a 2002 Volvo S60. I didn't choose it, I got it by marriage, and besides the fact that it was the base 168-horsepower 2.4-liter inline-5 (ugh, compared to the available turbos), I really disliked the car for one specific reason: seat comfort.

And I mean seats all around. The rear seats had zero legroom, but that was primarily my daughter's problem.

The front seats were roomier, but I never had any luck maneuvering them into a comfortable position. Not the driver's seat with its power controls, or the nightmarish passenger side's manual controls.

That S60 hung around my house for seven long years, and we never got over our differences.

Which probably makes me appreciate the driving comfort of our long-term 2012 S60 even more.

Hmm, had a 2003 S60 5 cyl NA (cloth seats) and now have an 2012 S60 T5 (cloth seats aka T-tec in Volvo speak) and find that both have great seats. You must have a much keener hinie!

Lots of Volvo's in my past, only one I've ever been in with bad seats was a Gen 1 S40, otherwise known as a Mitsubishi Carisma. Best ever were the thrones in the old 240/470/940 series. Those were tremendous for the long-haul.

Of course there's no way for one seat to fit everybody, but the prior generation S60 was generally praised as having the most comfortable seats in the business.

We still have our 2001 s60 2.4t. The front seats are still great. Best front seats of any car we've had. Back seats are still tight.

Huh. Volvo seats are probably the most universally praised seats of any nameplate - I honestly don't remember ever reading that a reviewer did not like Volvo seats.

New one every day.

That's funny, I've always heard Volvo seats are the best.

What? The last S60R had like the best seats ever put into a car, LOL!

They are universally praised.

This is pretty weird... The design of Volvo seats are generally the same afaik. Comparing the seats in my S60 to the S70 is that they are loosely speaking, the same. And Volvo seats are extremely comfortable. More comfortable than the E39 528i and Infiniti G37S.

In fact, the seats in our S70 are still very comfortable. After driving over 272k km too!
