Uh, oh, BMW is recalling 88,911 2007-'11 Mini Coopers because the auxiliary water pump circuit board may smolder, which could result in a vehicle fire,
There have been 81 known cases of auxiliary water pump failure worldwide, including four cases of a burned engine compartment, as of November 2011.
The recall includes all the turbocharged models, which means our own Countryman, too.

It's so easy to pile on, but how ironic that a Fiat is proving to be better built than a BMW?

I thought BMW has gotten this problem under control, I guess not... Well, I was thinking about replacing my IS with a new 335i but on the second thought, maybe not...

Well it is a BMW product with a French engine...!! :-P Mine won't be recalled so I assume MINI used updated parts for the 2012 models.
