I was amused yesterday when I did some grocery shopping and saw how even a shopping cart looks comparatively large when parked next to our Miata. You probably get more cargo space in a shopping cart, too.
Still, the Miata's trunk handled four reusable bags just fine.

Maybe if you had the trunk-mounted luggage rack you could equal the volume of the shopping cart. Stylin'!

I fondly remember my 1992 yellowmiata days (insert sigh here). Not only did I barely fit in that car, but with its light weight, punky little engine and pretty good handling, I was in heaven. I do think this is a classic case of "grass is greener," as I am always nostalgic for my previous cars. I guess I do miss the smallness that cars of yore presented. The 'merican way of "bigger = better" seems to be gobbling up the beauty of a low slung (NSX), light weight (miata), rev-happy-power (Integra-R) cars.

Take the Miata to CostCo and re-take the picture! Even the shopping carts are bigger there.
It will be hilarious, like when people pull up to CostCo on a motorcycle.

I can fit my family of four's grocery shopping in the trunk of my Miata -- sometimes with only one bag at my wife's feet. I don't have a spare in the trunk, though.

Yeah, but let's modify a cart to have a similar center of gravity, loaded, as a Miata. That's what's missing from shopping carts these days... precision handling.

my coworkers used to call my '91 miata "the roller skate" - definitely meant as a slight
back then they were all driving F350's and would joke they'd run me over by mistake some day (at least I thought it was a joke)

Seeing the size of the Miata in relation to the cart, my mind immediately went to visions of driving the Miata through the store.
