I found this guy parked while I was driving our 2012 Jeep Wrangler around my neighborhood. Is it me or are all old Jeeps just cool? The Willys era Jeeps are my personal favorites. I'll take mine with a small-block Chevy conversion, please.

Yeah, classic Jeeps looks more purposeful... but I'm glad to see the design language hasn't changed much in 70 years. If you could transplant somebody from WWII to today, they would still be able to recognize a Jeep. If only I had a phone booth time machine.
Also, you need to dodge the parts of the vehicles that are in shadow. It's hard to see any detail. Either that, or wait until the sun rises a little more.

Rugged and timeless. They just scream "I'll get you to the most remote places in the world."

The tough part will be making sure the marketing and product planners remember that Jeep is more then just a grill to slap on a car and make a quick buck.

That is a Vietnam war era Kaiser Jeep M715 produced from 1967 to 1969. I'm shocked that someone invested the resources to restore it. The military and civilian versions were equally unreliable and they represented a low point for the "Jeep" brand.

Is there a market for a small pick up based on a Jeep?

I'll bet there is. For years there have been kits that allow you to turn your Wrangler into a pick up. It would be easy for Jeep to make a mid sized pick up out of of the current 4 door and now that the Dakota and Ranger are gone it would have the small domestic truck market to itself.

all wranglers are cool. all pre 2000 jeeps are cool.
the outlook is grim for newer models, though:
cherokees? not cool (though their merits are unquestionable).
old grand cherokees aren't cool. in fact, newer ones aren't cool either.
compass? patriot? not cool.
liberty? not cool now, but in 20yrs, yes they will be.

It's not just you, all old Jeeps are cool. I love watching old videos of the WWII jeeps jumping and bouncing around all over the place, and there's a newer video of a crew of guys who drive a Jeep down the street, stop, completely disassemble it, put it back together and drive off in like 3 minutes. That was pretty cool (I probably saw it here).
