Last week Ford announced a recall on 2010-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milans. Ford is recalling the vehicles because of a risk of wheel separation, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The wheel studs may fracture, potentially causing a wheel to separate.
Full story here. But the important part for our Fusion Hybrid is that it has 17-inch alloy wheels. The recall only pertains to the 17-inch steel wheels.

Then why post it here if your Fusion is not affected by the recall?

"The wheel studs may fracture, potentially causing a wheel to separate."
So if you get Alloy wheels your wheel studs are a different material?
Am I missing something or is this a common industry practice.

Since the studs are OK, what about that dashtop?

I read the recall notice and it called for inspecting the rear break pads.....????? I am confused.

"Ford dealers will inspect the rear brake disc surface for flatness and replace the discs. In addition, the wheel lug nuts will be replaced on all four wheels."

I completely forgot this car was even in the fleet....

Sounds like they used the lug nuts for alloy wheels on steel-wheeled cars, and it's stressing the studs and also pulling the rear rotors out of flatness. Rears are less-stiff because they're thinner - solid, not thick like the vented ones are.
No mystery.

You guys still have the Fusion Hybrid? I couldn't tell as you haven't posted about it in over a month. Seems strange to me that you'd use a recall that doesn't apply to the vehicle to post about it again.
