2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid: Re-Tired

2010_Fusionhy_1600_tire_bulge.jpg

As we saw in our last episode, our 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid recently lost the battle of the bulge, presumably with a west-side pothole. At least the Fusion's 50-series tire had enough sidewall to the keep the wheel from getting dinged.

But we can't say as much for our wallet, which got lightened by $270.52. That sum included the tire itself, mounting, balancing, tire disposal fees, a tire rotation and sales tax.

Days out of service: 0.5

After the car sat overnight, the new tire arrived at Stokes at 8:07 am this morning. I brought the car around at 9:00 am and was out of there by 9:30 am.

The only way it would have been any easier is if it had never happened at all.

225/50R17 MXV4 - $194 at Tire Rack, and yeah, I know what that does not include. Whatever. Only thing I would say is I hope they did not ding you full price on the rotation, since you had the car up in the air and one wheel removed for the dismount/remount already.

I know it's an expensive part of the country, but I still think you should get better pricing for the amount of business you do there.

So what ever became of the Fusion's 'dash dirt disaster'?

And folks continue to love shorter and shorter sidewalls. 50's on a Fusion. Just dumb.

That's the same tire I had to replace after getting a bolt in it, the dealer matched Discount Tire for $230 OTD. No rotation, though.

"So what ever became of the Fusion's 'dash dirt disaster'?"

Probably nothing. They never published the production date to prove it was part of the FSB.

I drive a 2010 FFH and had a nail in the tread of one of my tires in May. The quote I got from my dealership was something like $250 (possibly without installation). I shopped around a bit and spent 202.58 at Sears for an identical tire.
In addition to the sparse posts on this car what I don't get about the Edmunds FFH is why their mileage is so low. They must be driving this car really hard because it does not take much effort to achieve the EPA estimate. I live 3.5 miles from work and my long term is currently 39.2.
