2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor: Gone But Not Forgotten

 IMG_0533.JPG

We're still missing the Raptor around here -- me worse than anybody. But today I saw this flat black SuperCrew Raptor cruising down the freeway looking utterly bad ass with black aftermarket wheels. It was like somebody read my mind.

More images after the jump.

I'm sad. That will be all.

I wish I understood IL's infatuation with all black wheels. I have only seen a couple of cars that I thought looked good with black wheels, and the Raptor and 911 aren't on that list.

I am not a big fan of the flat black paint either (or any flat color for that matter).

I can't believe you're still posting on the Raptor, even though it's no longer in your fleet.

"utterly bad ass" ...... Agreed!

This strikes me as a vehicle designed by someone who loved Mad Max so much, they want to fit right in. Someone who loved Mad Max so much, in fact, that they want to help along that apocalyptic dystopia by driving the least fuel efficient beast possible.

Yuck.

Rent one for trips to Moab, if you must.

I still don't understand why they don't offer it as a standard cab, that I would buy.

Did you miss looking at the tally at the end of every fill-up?

I recently saw an SUV with flat black paint, black rims ... and red and blue light strip on the dash.

Ah, undercover law enforcement.

I was behind one of the double cab versions of the Raptor on Sunday morning while driving N on the 5 freeway towards the OC auto show. Keeping in mind, I was in my comparatively tiny 911... holy smokes those things are huge. I'm used to seenig big, silly lifted trucks in S. CA but rarely do I see rigs that are that wide. Mirror to mirror that Raptor barely fit in the wide lanes of the 5 freeway in Mission Viejo.

I acknowledge the incredible engineering of these trucks but just don't see the draw.

+1 to 90in55

I'd wager that of these Raptor-"loving" editors had to pay the fuel bill for this beast for an entire year, the tune would sound different. Either there'd be a bit of softness in their "love" for the Raptor, OR they'd engage in cognitive dissonance and "love" the Raptor desipte it taking a chunk out of their money and therefore lifestyle.

Or I could just be blowing a bunch of smoke!

ok...we get that you guys miss the raptor...but you really should be driving, not taking pictures.

Trying hard to grasp certain editors' obsession with the departed Raptor. Granted I haven't driven one yet, but I've been behind the wheel of a wide variety of trucks, and rare was it when I walked away with more than a "meh."

Ah the Juke's frying pan sized mirrors. You won't miss a thing with those.

A giant off road truck with four doors that seats 5 with one person in it on the freeway. I am no tree hugger and am glad people can buy what they want....but sometimes I think "what a waste". I guess I am just cheap.....errr...frugal! :)
