2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor: Jump Start

2010_Raptor_jumpstart.jpg

The move is over. I'm in my new place. Things got so busy I didn't have time to post everything our 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor did to support the effort in real time.

The last thing I moved -- or attempted to move -- was my '57 Ford 2-door Del Rio wagon. Of course it wouldn't start. The Raptor tried it's best to jump the old sled, but it still wouldn't turn over.

I'm sure a couple of hours of fiddling and a couple of trips to the auto parts store would have handled it. But I was short of time and, more to the point, the movers had already left with my tools.

Time to call in a flatbed. I was in no mood to futz with it anyway.

Moving is seldom as smooth as we would like.

The Del Rio probably found out you are planning on selling her. Old cars are spiteful like that.

You had a Raptor...couldn't just tow it?

Haha. Is this the same Dan Edmunds that just yesterday claimed he lacked interest/nostalgia for old cars in a Porsche post?

But you have a 57 Del Rio? Ummmmmm...

Obviously it takes a certain type of old car to interest Dan. Maybe older sports cars aren't his thing. We know he didn't drive the Z06 or the 911, and from his posts on the 308 we can tell he wasn't enamored with it either. So Dan might be happy with, say, a '57 Eldorado Brougham... But he would probably be less happy with an '84 Testarossa. Am I wrong?

@ greenpony: You mean a Bro-Ham right?

@cutlasskraus: Good point. But I got this car from dad, who had tired of driving it, thinking it might be a way to involve the kids in cars at a young age. It worked for awhile, but mostly it just sits nowadays. The only circumstances under which I'd keep it include the installation of a brand new fuel injected Coyote 5.0-liter Mustang engine and matching 6-speed automatic. Chances of that project are slim without some outside fabrication help because that swap hasn't been done before. It's basically up for sale.

It's not that I don't like old sports cars -- I prefer them to muscle cars. But the good old days simply weren't that good when you look at them now and I prefer the newer stuff--stuff with electronic fuel injection.

And I have always preferred fast cars that were more stealthy, less overt than Corvettes, Ferraris and 911s.

Cool, got it, dan. I can respect another man's automotive flavor, regardless of wether I like it or not. A coyote 5.0 with a 6 speed in your Rio would be absolutely awesome. But I would almost certainly opt for a manual trans instead of the auto. Btw, the combination of a big power V8 in an unsuspecting large body car is what some might call the definition of a muscle car.

In any case, you got to be into it, otherwise it's just another thing on your to do list. If u hypothetically sold the Rio, what fuel injected vehicle do you think you might replace it with?
