The Fates Are Not Kind

I saw this black Nissan GT-R on my way to work yesterday while I was driving the Chevy Cruze.

I saw this gray Nissan GT-R on my way to work today while I was driving the Mitsubishi Outlander.

My right foot is itchy.

Donna,

Looks to me that's PCH going north in the morning rush hours, so the GT-Rs wouldn't be going any much more faster than the Mitsubishi Outlander.

GT for the weekend? :)

time to sell your soul for a GT-R...

Y'know, until I got my Mustang, I would see one maybe once every other month. Since I got it, I've seen one almost once a week just hanging out at a Famous Sam's. Damn you for showing me up. I see them around town relatively often now too.

I saw my first one in the wild a few weeks ago. (not too many people driving GT-Rs in Wisconsin)

Gray with those dark wheels.... I may or may not have drooled.

GT-R! I just spotted a 2012 model on the road the other day, the LEDs and new wheels were looking sharp!

Amazing car with incredible techonology and arguably the bang for the buck champion of the world but damn that car remains butt ugly.

I see a GT-R quite frequently on my way to work. Its not that exciting a thing, except I live in a place where there really aren't a lot of fancy cars at all.

I think IL needs to buy a 2012 GT-R as a long termer. Frankly, I think you guys owe it to the readers. The earlier model was somewhat problematic, including the one that was in your long term fleet, but Nissan claims the new model is fixed. They even let you turn off the traction control and use the launch mode without voiding the warranty to "prove" it. They also claim that they increased downforce by 10% by putting a couple grooves in the bumper.... Pfft!!! As THEE authority in the world of automotive journalism, IL should put a 2012 to the test and see if these outrageous claims by Nissan are on the level. Not for yourselves, but for the good of the public!

Saw a new 2012 white GT-R a couple weeks ago. Not the best color for that car, made it look so bloated. That black one, however, looks a lot more purposeful.

Frys? you live in City of Industry?
anyways... I spotted a Veyron for the first time on the road today... tailgating my much cheaper Elantra...

that's as many as I've seen in MA since the GT-R came out a few years ago.

once saw a late 90's (R33 I think). it was actually back in the late 90's at a hill climb in NV (SR-341).

love the GT-R and enjoy all the "it's better than that" rants on this site whenever someone brings up the GT-R.

Hey, at least you don't *own* the Cruze. You know you can drive one of the other more interesting IL cars tomorrow. Imagine how soul-crushing it'd be if that Cruze was yours because it was all you could afford AND you felt the way you do about the GT-R!

sherief says:

@donna, I agree you should get a 2012 GT-R. Then invite me to come up and drive it :D

cr_driver says:

It looks menacing, that rear end and 3/4 profile of the GT-R. Like that.

And yeah, get the 2012 GT-R.

Just do it.

I don't see many GT-Rs here in MN but when I do, I still look. I saw a flat black one once, tripped, and nearly fell on my face. Had I actually fallen, it would have still been worth it. That car is beautiful.

Donna, there's a white GT-R I see often on Del Amo blvd between Praire and Prospect. I see that same gray one once in a while. It lives a few blocks from me.

carraway says:

Does it help to notice that, despite their capabilities, both are stuck in traffic, their drivers watching the back-ends of a white pickup and SUV, respectively?

I didn't think it would.

fundango says:

06:12 AM, 06/10/11

Yeah I think the darker colors look better on the GT-R. The ones I've seen in white and even red didn't do anything for me.

carguy622 says:

I do love the GT-R in theory, but if I had that kind of money to spend on a car I'd want something with a stick.

firstwagon says:

I have never seen one around Vancouver. Not sure if they were even sold here.

I saw another black one today. It was a different one, had personalized plates. Someone is trying to tell me something. -- Donna
