2010 VW GTI: That Won't Buff Out

 GTI-front-bumper.gif

Mike Schmidt has already told you that our VW GTI is back from its secret mission off the grid, and that it returned home with a busted tire. Well, it also returned with this curb rash. Bummer.

Seriously, I don't understand how someone can do this. Pay attention to where you are. I just shake my head at this kind of thing. $1000 repair I'm sure.

I know how someone can do that. I did it to my G8 GXP. -.- There's a a nice, deep scrape on the bottom right of the front clip that took off paint and a good bit of plastic, too, and it's in just about this same spot. I ran over a curb by cutting the wheel too early pulling out of a parking spot. Stupid, stupid, stupid...

Though for the IL car, is this by any chance the same impact that took out your tire?

Also beware of high curbs when parallel parking the GTI. I almost ground my wheels against a granite curb in my 2011 GTI while parking in town recently. Those low sidewalls don't give you any room for error. I love this car.

Can of white spray paint. At that angle, when standing, no one will notice.

Hmmmm that is right next to the damaged tire......I smell hooning......

What the heck is up with the secret missions?

+1 adamb1

nobody will ever notice.

audisport says:

Yeah, no one will ever notice that you spray painted it... Seriously?

eidolways says:

Not so long as you mask it off and then spray it with a can of paint that matches the OEM paint. If you just go at it with a gloss white can $2 special from your local hardware store... Well, no. You don't just do that.

You guys are just brutal on your cars.

"Its" secret mission not "it's". Blame auto-correct all you want, it's still sloppy journalism.

But did you catch Jason Bourne? Staircases can be brutal on cars I know.

Curb rashes are cool.
Why do you need to repair that?
Such a glamour girl.

Nah. I had the same done by one of the better body shops here and it was $150.

Easy fix since it's low: get a bottle of touch up paint and a small foam brush.

It's hard to take you guys seriously as drivers when you can't NOT run into a curb or whatever it is you drove into. I hope the guy or girl that did this is outed so they can be openly mocked in the office.

ah, curb rashes, the bane of owning a white car...

can i buy this GTI for 12k after you are done with it?

bluejuke says:

one of the biggest reasons i went for the Juke's ride height!!! my crown vic i bottomed out multiple times a day pulling into and out of driveways, and intersections... Tulsa has some pretty nasty approach angles. even the juke rubbed the front plastic "winerack" one day and i freaked out and had to check the intercooler(it was fine).
