2010 Mitsubishi Outlander GT: Smuggling Baby Chicks

Chirp chirp-1600.jpg

[Revised: Sorry, the entry was originally mistitled -- This is the Outlander GT, not the Sport.]

On the way to school this morning, my 7-year old daughter said, "Daddy, why does it sound like there are baby chicks in the car? They're saying 'chirp-chirp...'"

I told her that was a very good question, but only after returning did I bust out the camera and find them. Video after the jump.

Sorry the audio isn't quite as good as it could be, but take my word for it, the "chirp-chirping" is far more noticeable while driving--and now that I simply cannot ignore it, it's driving me crazy. Next step: lubricant!

You can bill MMNA 0.1 hour of warranty labor now, Chris! :o)

If the average Mitsu dealer is paid $100/hr by MMNA, that should be $10 in your pocket!

my Tahoe makes noises like that. So did my S10.

Has been making me crazy for nearly 2 years. The S10 was easy to fix, turn up the radio. I had an ok deck and a decent set of Kickers.

The Tahoe features all blown speakers (factory), factory deck, and somebody even modified it by yanking out the CD player (seperate from the head unit) which if I could find said person I would thank him by PUNCHING HIM IN THE FACE OVER AND OVER AGAIN

I cannot wait for my new car...

IMO, lubricant isn't the answer for the root cause. It's Japanese fit and finish.

1. This is obviously the Outlander, not the Outlander Sport

2. I used to sell Mitsu's and can confidently say this is covered under warranty. Had one customer experience this and it was fixed, no problem.

Yes, please fix the title (the category is right, though).

I haven't heard the squeak in my GT since a month or two after I bought it. Not sure if it's still there but if it is the OEM cargo mat is doing a fine job of muffling it.

Caroline already tried this in December 2010... http://blogs.insideline.com/roadtests/2010/12/2010-mitsubishi-outlander-gt-wd40-vs-squeak.html My 2010 outlander XLS used to make that noise, but after a few months it stopped.
