2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid: Antidote For Range Anxiety

 Ford Fusion hybrid Range.jpg

554 miles to empty displayed thanks to a 17.5 gallon fuel tank.

And that's not assuming the displayed MPG average of 32.7 mpg. With that math we'd go 572.25 before sputtering out of fuel.

And with my final MPG reading of 37.8, we're at 661.8 miles before I have to stop again. I hate the gas station. Not the price, but the annoyance (one reason I really dig this plug in thing -- just click it when you go home for the night and you're good) is something I just can't tolerate. Whenever I've got a car with more than 500 miles of range, I'm a happy guy.

I refill every 500 on mine, but I guess I could push it to 600 (if I worked for IL)....

What's your longest range ever?

I once drive a company owned F350 that they had added a Titan 67 gallon replacement tank with a 190 gallon auxiliary tank in the bed (257 gallons total). I got depending on terrain 15-20 mpg so I had a max theoretical range between 3,855 miles-5,140 miles. The US at its widest point is I think 3,400 miles to put it in perceptive.

I put 794 miles on my jetta tdi in one tank. Over filling it by 2 gallons (to 16.5) when I came in again, there was 0.3 gallons left, 49mpg avg on that trip.

So Mike, you hated the Evo X's that insideline had didn't you? A range of about 190 +/- miles wasn't it?

In South Florida in a small town, I get over 700 distance to E with every fill up. The DTE is calculated using the last 500 miles. My long term average is 42.7 mpg. I don't know what you lead foot ILs are doing to get your results. The comments on the last few posts by drivers who have obviously never driven a FFH and probably no other Hybrid is a display of utmost ignorance. The FFH is the most stable car on the highway I have ever owned. It's steering and handling is superb. It's braking is the smoothest I've ever had ( and likely to remain that way ). Don't compare small ICE cars highway mileage figures with hybrids because most don't drive mostly highway. The Prius gets 45 -55 mpg ALL THE TIME! The FFH gets 35-45 mpg ALL THE TIME ! The FFH is a luxury trim car, don't compare it to a smaller stripped I4. It has near V6 performance. Ignorance dies hard !
