See that on the center screen? Of course you don't, because it's too freaking dark! It seems like the light sensor that determines if it's day or night is too sensitive. In the slightest shade, it makes the nav screen go into night mode. If I were in an unfamiliar city, this could be aggravating, since night mode is pretty much blacked out if there's any ambient light.

A buck fifty gsp from sams/costco works better than that.

The navigation switches to night mode based on whether the headlights are on. So if your turn the automatic headlights off it won't do this.
Besides I thought there was a button (one of the many) on the dash to quickly switch out of night mode, conversely you can use voice command and say "Set-Up" then "Display Day".

CT owner here. Carguy622 is correct. 3 different ways to stop it from happening.....however, it can't read your mind like a "Costco gsp" undoubtedly would.

If I am not mistaken, you can manually set the GPS screen to day mode by turning the dashboard brightness to it's brightest setting.

On my car, the lights dim when the headlights are turned on. This frustrated the heck out of me until I realized that pressing the brightness nob down turned everything back to day mode.

Here's the thing about the ugly center stack: I counted the buttons as best I could and the Volt has no more than this.
