I'm a fan of lumbar support, but seriously, the Honda Crosstour's front seats are extreme to the point that they're uncomfortable. Having the ability to adjust lumbar support to a massive amount is one thing (and for many out there, a good thing), but being stuck with a level that jabs into your back, forcing you into a continual arch, is another. Even with the driver's seat turned to its minimum level, I find it excessive. And the front passenger seat can't be adjusted at all. So if you don't like a ton of lumbar, tough luck.

Not sure what you guys did to your blog software, but posts never show up right in Google Reader anymore - just a garbled bunch of code.

+1 to sxty8stang's post, but I really wanted to comment in agreement and pose a question for the IL folks.
My wife has a 2008 Civic (non SI, so the seats that they all have), with a non adjustable huge lumbar support, just like Mike describes. It makes the car so uncomfortable to drive that I virtually never touch it. She loves it, but it actually just makes me hurt, even after a drive of only 20 or 30 minutes.
So my question is, as auto reviewers who drive lots of vehicles, do you find that Honda vehicles in general have giant lumbar support? I know I could go and sit in every car they sell but they'd think I was nuts :-D

I guess the whole ergonomics thing is now in the past. Giant lumbar supports, head rests that make you lean your head forward, vehicles still without telescoping steering wheels (check out an '09 Flex, for example.) You would think that designing a comfortable seat is easy to do, especially after a hundred years of trying. Guess not. Manufacturers are all trying to reinvent the things in cars that were perfected decades ago. For instance, I owned 3 Accords over the years, and they all had comfortable driver's seats. Apparently Honda has now tried to fix THAT problem that never existed.

What vehicle has seats that EVERYBODY likes? Sometimes I don't like the seat settings today that I liked yesterday.

Not all seats suit all people. How hard is that to figure out?

Sounds like Honda designed the seats with fat Americans in mind.

I hate this about my moms accord but she loves it. Go figure.

I have noticed that on other Honda products as well.
When I sit in the Odyssey it often feels like the lumbar support is fully extended, yet it is actually fully retracted.

We had this complaint in our 2008 LT Accord, too. http://blogs.insideline.com/roadtests/2008/07/2008-honda-accord-ex-l-v6-family-road-trippin.html I believe the explanation for it back then was that there's some kind of plate in the seatback that supports the new head restraint requirements, and that's what we're feeling.

Hey, I'm a fat American and I found the seats hopeless as well when I sat in one.
