The GMC Terrain has been selling well. November was its best sales month since its introduction in September 2009, rising 56 percent over the previous November. And the Terrain is sitting on dealer lots an average of 17 days. For comparison, GM says Terrain competitors are on lots around 31 days.
GM is getting more women into the GMC brand with the Terrain (duh) as 46% of its buyers are women. And GM claims that 54% of all Terrain buyers are trading in non-GM vehicles.
This all makes sense to me as I would recommend the Terrain to someone looking in its segment. But I won't send you to Penske Las Vegas for it, as the only new cars they sell are Ferraris and Maseratis.
Perhaps they have a Terrain that was traded in...

-Adds to the argument that many women don't like "girl-y" styling.

I saw them everywhere in the states. More than the Equinox, even

I just saw it for the first time here in NYC.
I guess people really do hate domestics in the NE :)

I've only seen a couple so far. Tucsons and Santa Fe's seem to be selling much better.

I see these everywhere here in SoCal. Women love the butch styling just like they did Hummers before they became un-PC. It's like a mini H3, I wonder if this basic design could have started out as the rumored H4 before Hummer was killed off.

Knowing GM that is all too realistic possibility.

see these all over MA.
if GM is saving money by rebadging a now dead/never produced Hummer as a GMC, and actually selling them, is that somehow a bad thing?

At what percentage point does this Terrain become a Chick car?
Kind of strange, isn't it? The GMC looks butch, while the Equinox looks much more, uh, female.
What is the percentage of male/female for the Equinox?

I still prefer the Equinox, and I wonder if its sleeker styling would translate to better real-world fuel economy.

It took me a little more than a nanosecond to determine that a Ferrari SIGN is infinitely better looking than the Terrain.

More likely is that you just dont notice vehicles you hate. I live in the NE and see 1-2 Terrains a week on average. They are very common- Ive even seen a couple with NY plates here in Philly.

No, Hummers were always going to be RWD.

It wouldnt the difference in the drag between the two (if there is one) wouldnt be significant enough to make any real difference.

When and where did I say I hate the Terrain? I actually quite like the interior. The shiny bits are a little gaudy but with GM you just have to lower your expectation a bit and be merry :) The I4 is gutless but the V6 would cure the ills. It wouldn't outrun my neighbor's Cayenne Turbo S but my own V8 M3 may not either with only RWD. So there you have it.
If you see my reserved praise as some kind of unmitigated hatred, then nothing will convince you otherwise.

@e90_m3,
Sorry for the OT... but is your M3 a DCT or 6MT? I finally drove the DCT in the Loma Prieta mountains for about 45 minutes at the M Power Tour event, and I absolutely loved it. It's easily one of the best DSG-type gearboxes I've ever driven. I still love the MT in my E92 M3, but it makes me wonder if I should take the plunge and leave the manually-clutched world the next time around.

As I said, I see plenty of them up here as well as most highly regarded domestics that have come out in the last few years. I live less than 100m from NYC and I doubt tastes are that radically different here.
As for shiny bits, they are found in numerous cars- even MB models. But when your ridiculously biased and prone to Euro car worship its hard to grasp such a concept. Do you lower your expectations when you see chrome bits all over a MB interior? The CLS had shiny trime surrounds in abundance and its just one example. Japanese luxury models (and non luxury models increasingly) also have chromed accents inside. Check out the new M.
I take it you will disappear after reading this response.
PS- the "gutless" I4 in the Terrain has more power than comparable models from Honda, Ford and Hyundai. Its called par for the class- they are all "gutless" together. Complaining about its hp is like complaining about it having a hatch and folding flat rear seats- in other words you are looking at the wrong vehicle type if you expect big hp and blazing acceleration in this class.

@bimmerjay:
Oh yes the DCT is fun as heck. I was torn between stick and DCT, but the fear of NYC traffic sealed the deal for me. Yes, I'm a wimp :)
If this were my weekend toy I'd have picked the stick version. The M3 being my only car practicality would have to come into play.

Do you seriously not see my "lower your expectation" statement as a bait in jest? Relax and live a little. You can thank me later.
