All Volvos up 'til now are thoroughly Swedish-- especially the XC60; it just oozes Scandinavian design and charm--so under Sverige for now. Here's hoping the Chinese don't dick it up.

Cheden. It depends where the design culture is centered, and something tells me that most owners are careful to preserve the cultural DNA of a brand. Look at Opel and GM. Opel makes decidedly German cars after all these decades. Funny thing - Gran Turismo lists Lexus/Acura/Infiniti as American brands, which struck me as odd because the DNA is Japanese and that's how I think of them. I bet Volvo is listed under Sweden, and Jaguar under Britain in the latest edition.

They put those imports under the american name plate, because generally brands like acura annd infiniti don't exactly exist in thier home countries. Like Japan has Hondas that are exactly like our Acuras...very up scale, they gave it a different brand name so they could sell luxury cars. Another case is the Nissan Skyline...here its the Inifniti G or even some toyotas. Its interesting to go on the global websites of some of the bigger names and seeing what we dont have and whats what. Our Jeep Liberty in the UK is the Cherokee. The best way to be able to see them is by picking a country like the UK, since navigation thru foreign websites can be tricky...unless ur using google chrome to translate it. Hopefully that clears up why Grand Turismo does what it does, its simply because they are imports that the place exporting doesnt have...in a way....if that makes sense.

As to the question in the post title: I believe the location is what we Southern Californians refer to as "Seizure World".

Hi Kelly and Folks,
USA Today had the same kind of question this past week. Here is what we sent them:
==============
Right off the top, below is what Li Shufu has been saying to media and recently sent to all employees. We doubt that his making this kind of public statement is rescindable in the future.
Dear employees,
We can guarantee you that Volvo Cars will remain a Swedish brand, incorporated in Sweden, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Geely Holding Group. The headquarters and the Volvo board will be based in Sweden and will follow Swedish corporate rules and regulations. We also intend to preserve Volvo Cars’ existing manufacturing facilities in Sweden and Belgium, while exploring opportunities to manufacture Volvo vehicles in new production facilities to be built in China for the local Chinese market.
Best regards,
Li Shufu
Chairman
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group
He has also openly stated that cars produced in China will remain for that market. His stated sales potential is about 300,000 Volvo units annually. Considering our present sales, globally, are around 350,000 units with capacity for at least another 150,000, we have plenty of capacity to handle rest-of-world sales.
Presently, and for last 4-5 years, Volvo has built the S40 and a long-wheelbased S80 in China. They have been strictly for Chinese market and not exported. Plants in Sweden and Belgium will continue to produce cars for markets other than China. There is no truth to the statement that Americans may – or will – see Chinese-built Volvos.
==========
So we'll be Herring and Aquivite for long time.
