2010 Volvo XC60: Seatbelt Nanny Busts Unbuckled Fifth Grader

volvo_xc60_ip_1600.jpg

Several months ago, Deputy Managing Editor Caroline Pardilla blogged about her experience with the Volvo XC60's message center and its seat belt nanny.

This morning, during our race to school for the first day of fifth grade, my daughter thought she buckled-up in the rear seat's center position, but she didn't push the buckle in all the way.

The Volvo promptly ratted her out.

Man, I'd be all like, "Pfft, I don't need no Swedish safety-Nazi stool pigeon car pushin' me around, tellin' me what is and what ain't!" :)

Cool gauges though.

Cool feature. Much better then seeing a fifth grader fly past you on her way through the windshield.

I would like to request a test under very controlled circumstances (see windshield + 5th grader comment above):
While vehicle is moving, does the nanny promptly display that message should someone remove their belt in the backseat? Thinking about my days in the back of the wagon....
