Disregard the cars behind the curtain, a guy's gotta keep some secrets, right?
So anyway, this happened the other day. Our 2009 Dodge Viper SRT-10 ran into this immaculate '94 Dodge Viper RT/10 roadster. It even had the sweet, three-spoke wheels that were dated then and so-dated-they're-cool today.
15-years, 0.4-liters, exterior door handles, a roof and 200 horsepower separate the two.
Which do you prefer?

I've always been a sucker for the 1st gen Viper coupe in Blue with white stripes - love the lines on that car. The original RT-10's always looked "squashed" to me, like a giant stepped on them (kinda like the current Mercedes SLS)...

The beautiful blue with white stripes first gen coupe I saw yesterday, in the rain, in Manhattan, Kansas. No, I wasn't drinking. I have no idea where the car came from (couldn't see the tag) and God only knows what the driver was doing out in the rain anyway, but boy it was beautiful.
Between those two, I think the original is nicer looking, even those goofy wheels.

For the first gen, I prefer the looks of the roadster over the coupe. For the current generation, I prefer the looks of the coupe over the roadster.
With that said, I slightly prefer the looks of the first gen roadster over the current coupe. Now, include the extra power of the current coupe and some minor refinements made over the years, I'll take the current coupe.

I like the new one, but then again, I am a sucker for stripes

If I didn't know it already I wouldn't be able to tell which car was designed when. The new one possesses late 90s design, dated, tired and reminds me of swarm of generic Malibus, Neons, Blazers of that era. It's a brilliant machine inside, but on the outside it's just an ugly old american car coming possibly from the worst half-decade of car design in history.

I like the 1st gen. Maybe it's just my fond memories of the first "Need for Speed" computer game...

Old one, preferably in black.

Old one. Not as "refined" but IMHO that's the whole point of a Viper.
It's the anti-Lexus.

There's something to be said for careful evolution of iconic designs. Seeing Gen 1 and Gen 2 side-by-side, it's clear that history was well respected as the Viper evolved. Nice.
I do hope Chrysler's new Fiat overlords take this into account as they ready Gen 3 for market.

I would take either one but I would love to have the 1st gens wheels on the newer Viper.

Now I'm an alcoholic but I vastly prefer the 3-spokers on the old Viper

Is that at the Ontario Mills? If so, I think I know who owns that car...

I always loved the original Viper, fond memories in the original Need for Speed game, but over time the Viper has matured and evolved each time becoming more awesome than the previous model. I gotta say the 2008-2010 is just fantastic. *fingers crossed* Fiat doesn't hurt the next evolution to come.

I was a car crazy 16 year old when that 94 was built. I love them both and am excited on the rare occasion I see a Viper of any sort (there can't be more than a dozen of em where I live), but have one heck of a soft spot for the first gen. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, even when the car is only in its teen years.

I recently purchased a Viper. I had to decide between a Gen III or a 01-02 GTS. I went with the GTS because it just has more character than the new one. I still love the Gen III & IV look and would like to add a Gen IV to my stable at some point...just as soon as they get down to my price point.
