2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS: iPod Integration Mix Up

_MG_9672.jpg

While I don't disagree with Karl Brauer's assessment of the Boston Acoustics audio system in the Camaro SS (and probably wouldn't argue anyway with an audiophile rockin' classic DMC TimeWindow speakers in his home stereo setup), I can't abide by his statement that the car's iPod integration "just works, everytime."

As evidence I present the picture above, which I snapped while my iPhone 3GS was attached to the USB port in the center console. Ever hear of an album titled Al Green, Alejandro Escovedo or Alice Cooper? Me neither.

For some reason the Camaro's system showed Artists as Albums, and Albums as Artists, as in the pic below.

And it also showed Songs as Genres and Albums as Song Titles, as pictured below. Well, it got that part half right, since there are songs and albums called All Shook Down and After the Goldrush.

Maybe the problem is with the iPhone 3GS, are more specifically, the new iOS4 software, which is also causing iPod-integration issues in our 2010 GMC Terrain.

But Steve Jobs would probably say that the Camaro is holding the iPhone wrong.

To quote 1487......that dashboard looks "craptastic". And he says the new Scion looks cheap!

It's a problem with how Apple music software imports files and reads the original tags on the files. If your files aren't tagged correctly, iPods/iPhones go postal and won't spit out accurate data to other devices. Retag your files with the right song data and try hooking your phone up to the Terrain/Camaro again.

This is probably an ID3 or AIFF problem with IOS4. This means the files are not tagged or identified properly by the iOS4 ipod device.

Body:

learn the difference between styling and tactile quality. Camaros styling isn't for everyone but the buttons and switchgear are high quality. not so with cheap toyotas and scions.

@roadburner: Right, DCM. Excuse the dyslexic typing.

@ gregnv: Makes me wonder why this doesn't happen in other cars.

The boston acoustics are decent for a stock stereo system, but again i have never heard a good stock stereo. Even the mark levinson setup in the lexus doesnt impress me. (P.S. i am a big audiophile).

As for the ipod integration, i rarely use it in my car, so i cant comment.

By the way i love the interior in my camaro.

I've had a Camaro since March now. It's just a 2LT with the RS package. Well the iPod connector worked well with my 80GB iPod for the longest time ever UNTIL I plugged my 30GB iPod Touch into the USB port. As with the original post, when I connected my iPod Touch, the original screen was right. But when I selected the artists the albums came up and so I backed up to check what I had done. When I went back to the artists list the artists came up under a few .....(dots) that I could select as well. Anyways, whenever I try to play my 80GB iPod when my car first starts up all I get is static with the music playing in the background. So I took my car into the Chevy dealership and they reinstalled my ipod software to my car. Well my iPod played correctly, only because for some reason it works after my car has been on for a while. So what I'm guessing is that the iPod Touch software corrupted something in the system, either that or the USB port is messed up.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Has this happened to anyone else?
