OK, I don't doubt that you all already know what a hard top looks like but check it out in our 1994 Mazda Miata. The visibility out the back is now teh awesome. No more tiny, swaying window to look out of but this huge expanse of glass and, look, there's even a shelf back there for my purse.
Here's a view of the rear via the rearview mirror.
Of course this inspires confidence when getting around slower cars.

It needs asoft top.

When another editor complained the other day about not being able to enjoy the nice weather with the top down, I wondered why they didn't just remove the hard top. But now I see why... Instead of using the normal removable clasps at the B-pillar mounts, you actually bolted it down! Removing the soft top entirely, you also have the unsightly gap between the hard top and rear shelf carpeting. Since there is no soft top left, you should remove the soft top hold-down brackets from the hard top... although it looks like they may not be easily removed with the rear glass in place!
Does the rear defroster work?

We all "needs asoft top", ptcdawg.
Man, every Miata blurb makes me miss every single one of my past roadsters. Ya know, I have some money in the bank... hmmm. *Gotta be good, spend no money, gotta be good*
Anyway, the top itself is actually decently finished on the inside. Where it meets the car, however, not so much. I'd have to do something about that if it's going to be a permanent fixture.

Are those speakers in the headrest?

jstandefer,
Yeah, JayKav bolted it down so that no one could steal it. And no, the defroster doesn't work yet.
ayao,
Yup!

And yes, those are speakers...my Wife owned an RX7 with headrest speakers.

If you think the visibility is great with the hardtop you should try putting the top down!
Oh wait, you can't now.
Too bad.

Okay... I'm starting to get on the bandwagon.
