After heeding the warnings (and never really believing masking tape does one bit of good holding a windshield in place anyway), I went our favorite car wash and (gasp) removed the miraculous blue paper tape. But just before I sent it down the conveyor, I noticed something else wasn't quite right.
The door seal (on both sides) was out of its groove like this. It was easy enough to put right, but I'm wondering what the process is to install a new windshield that the shop had to pop both seals like this.
No leaks and on the prowl for gravel trucks without release of liability statements on painted on their tailgates.

That may have been done to prevent putting a bubble in the glue before it set- shutting the door causes the cabin pressure to change enough that air might escape through the unset glue leaving a spot for leaks. By removing the seal on the door it allows the air to escape there and prevents anything happening to the new windshield seal.

Sloppy workmanship. Did your body shop even do a cursory check to see everything looked kosher??

Why couldn't Volvo find a better way to incorporate the safety sensor in the front? It just looks so terrible bulging out of the grille.

Just because a gravel truck says they are not responsible for debris coming off their truck, does not mean they are not responsible. California's vehicle laws clearly state that the operator of a vehicle is responsible for any cargo they are carrying and the damages it causes if it comes off. This includes rocks that crack windshields. The problem is that the burden of proof of showing a specific truck caused the damage by falling debirs is quite high and unless you can have video showing something coming off the truck and hitting you, good luck getting the damages in court.

Only feathers and clear water are allowed to drip/fall off a vehicle in CA according to State Law:

Other than the tape, that sensor caught my eye. What an after thought, and an eye sore.
Mercedes did a good job incorporating the distronic sensor into the front symbol. Unless you look really hard at it, you'd never know it was there.

Everytime I see one of these Volvos, I become more of a fan of it, and I still love the exterior color.
