Last week Doug had trouble with the radio and display in our 2009 Dodge Ram. Over the past week I've put 400 miles on it. I started it at least 30 times. I turned the radio display on and off twice that many times. I even fumbled around with the dimmer switch, assuming that played a role. Despite my poking and prodding, the Ram didn't miss a beat.
We will continue to monitor the issue, but the radio seems fine now.

If it's an electronic gremlin that can be hard to track down and pin-point.
I was looking at the new issue of Car and Driver yesterday, and they wrapped up a long term test on a Ram as well, and while I only skimmed the article at this point, I think they mentioned something about the navigation system only working part time.

This is the kind of problem where the mechanic writes "unable to verify customer's complaint" on the work list.
Frustrating for the driver, but at least it is not an "unable to" problem that involves the car coasting to the side of the road.

I think this is a remnant from the Daimler years. This reminds me of my mother's 400E she had years ago. Every once in a while something just wouldn't work when you fired up the car. Strangely, for the 6 years she had the car never once was she able to replicate an electrical issue. Something would happen, then it would never happen again, almost as if the car healed itself.
The same couldn't be said for my wife's old SL. When something went wrong with that it stayed wrong. Thankfully, both her E63 and my S550 have been free of any such issues so far.

Who doesn't love an intermitent issue?
