As fun a ride as it's been, our time with the 2007 Ford Edge SEL has come to an end.
Read the wrap up and then come back for our parting shots. This is your last chance to get questions/comments out of the way.
Good-bye, Edge. My knuckles won't miss your ill-placed vents, blowing directly on both sides of the steering wheel.

This thing was around BEFORE I worked here. That was in 2007. This was the Van Wilder of our fleet. It was also notable for having those god-awful braking distances, which Ford quietly corrected the following year with new tires. Well, correction in the form of 60-0 dropping from mid 150s to mid 130s.

Here's the Edge wrap-up. Now, shut up about it.

Like so much that Ford does, the Edge seems far cooler, better and more significant now that when it came out, despite our relentless nitpicking. Aside from brakes, this is still a better family crossover than most, especially when you consider that affordable stripped-down models are actually available on dealer lots.

A perfectly capable family vehicle that rarely does anything objectionable. Sound boring? Well, most good family vehicles are, nothing wrong with that.

Oil's well that ends well.
Oh wait, you mean this isn't the caption contest? Let's pretend it is. Go!

And it was a rock, just like the Focus....and the Flex. No car at any price has been more reliable lately than the Fords. (in the IL fleet)

Wow... that's a way to appeal to your readers. I'm glad that we finally have closure on the Edge.

Now where's the Hyundai Genesis wrap-up?

Donna, Why were we unreasonable in asking for updates as opposed to your mystifying refusal to simply tell us the vehicle had been shifted to a different use within the company that didn't warrant updates?
One or two simple sentences and I would have shut up about it. How about you stop ignoring your readers and we'll shut up?

Good point par_avion. Why are there not parting shots for two of the most popular cars ever in the IL fleet, the G8 and the Genesis? Hell, the Genesis never even got a good bye.

That's the most snippy I've seen Donna. Probably still sore because no one likes her beloved Crosstour.

I'll give Ms. DeRosa the benefit of the doubt and guess that she was just being silly....

Long caption:
As a result of a class action lawsuit, Ford had to give an oil well to each owner of an Edge.

Donna's chair in her cube probably isn't heated, so maybe that's why we all got the cold shoulder.

thejohnp -- nice one. I think (hope) she's just being sarcastic.

I think this proves it Ford is one of the few car makers that make cars that IL actually has problems breaking into pieces with their driving styles.

Either way the Edge was indeed the start of a better Ford.
On the subject of keeping the reason behind the Edge's disappearance honestly is it too hard to make a post called: "2007 Ford Edge SEL: Off the front line" with just a simple statement that its becoming a support vehicle?

The way IL has been writing the past few months I am surprised they even said what they did about the Edge. The journalistic standards of this publication have been very poor the past few months and I hope that changes.
