2009 Audi A4 Avant: Rear-Ended

2009_audi_a4_hammer_1600.jpg

There we were, sitting at a red light in our 2009 Audi A4 Avant. And shortly afterwards there we were, standing on the side of the road exchanging insurance information. We were rear-ended.

So now it's off to our local body shop, the Golden Hammer, for an estimate to repair minor rear bumper damage. With insurance involved it isn't likely the process will be quick. But we will keep our fingers crossed and let you know how it goes.

Is it you guys, or California that's so hard on a vehicle?

I had the same thing happen to my old A4. It'll probably be about $1500-$2000 for the job.

Geez you guys get rear-ended a lot. LA really has awful drivers.

I was rear ended in my old A4. Visible damage wasn't bad, but underneath the bumper cover there was damage and my whole exhaust system was replaced.

It's the drivers here in CA. I was in 5 accidents in 6 years and none of them my fault. People just don't pay attention to what they are doing. I wish the DMV would make drivers get re-tested every few years but that will never happen. I think that I avoid getting in to an accident at least once a week. Mostly it is people not stopping at stop signs. Wish I could move to a more rural location. Oh well.

You'd love it here in KC in terms of traffic accident occurrences. You don't have to fear for your life every time you drive out and the drivers here actually pay attention to their surroundings for the most part. I can count on my one hand how many times I had to avoid an unaware driver in the past three years. People just don't get rear-ended here. :-)

A moron in a Sunbird was looking for a dropped cigarette and rear ended my wife's 528i. No insurance of course. The only satisfaction I got out of the incident was finding out his crap car was totalled while the 5er was still drivable. The X3 later got tapped by a Geo Prizm; there was a small scratch on the X3's rear bumper but the Geo needed the radiator zip-tied to keep ftom falling on the motor and the hood needed to be bungied shut. We had the same insurance company so I just asked for a new bumper(@$250) since I was going to need to pull the old one off anyway in order to install the OEM trailer hitch.

"Say no more."

The statement was kind of redundant...
