2010 Honda Insight: Beyond Sky Blue

2010_Honda_Insight_Detail_1600.jpg

Honda calls this color Clear Sky Blue Metallic.

I call it Too Blue.

I prefer it to some of the current orange paints, but I wouldn't want to own a car this color. I prefer a nice, bright silver.

How about you?

silvers boring imo. I think the blue nicely sets this car apart. I like that shade of blue on that car.

I'm sure it comes in other colors.

I can't tell for sure because Honda's website is down.

Silver is great, unless you want to find your car in a parking lot or show any personality. Like it or not (I do), this colour is way better than Scion Teal

I also think silver is boring. Though, if I had the choice of a nice charcoal grey, I wouldn't hesitate.

Silver is a non-colour. To paint a metal car the colour of metal shows no imagination or style.

I like the blue on the Insight. It's a lot better then the light blue on my Taurus but not as nice as the dark green on my Jeep.

You know my thoughts - Ford's Dark Ink Blue Metallic! :)

+1 to firstwagon, silver is the worst color for a car because it is the absence of color for metal... It shows no personality or excitement whatsoever. Most people tell me they like silver cars because they don't show dirt and hide chips and scratches. But I'm a car enthusiast, and I want my car to say something and mean something, rather than just be a reliable, but boring, appliance!

I own a dark blue car now, and I'm never buying dark again. White, silver, grey, or even faint metallics are just too easy to keep clean. Once you get darker than neutral, everything shows.

Silver is ...zzzz

Sorry what were we talking about? I actually own a silver car because I wanted a light color for easy maintenance and silver was the only one in the area with a stick.

My favorite colors are greens. The older Mazda6 came in this color called Sepang Green that was beautiful. It was a light almost silver green. If the dealer didn't screw me over I would have had that instead.

The only sliver car I would willingly own is a DeLorean.

Red or Black for me even if it is a hybrid.

Silver looks good ONLY on cars with lotsa chrome, like a Mercedes or my old '81 Cougar. I loved the white "arctic" pearl on my old car, and it looked great after 10 years in the sun. Now, I'm rolling in a Graphite metallic, which I swear has some green tones in it which comes out in different light. I love it. I found myself painting my cars in Forza3 to look very similar.

Color is the new silver. Green, red, and blue. Good stuff. Just not teal, purple or orange.

After having red and black cars I decided to get my 2008 MS3 in silver because "it showed no dirt and chips". Yeah, right! That car showed every imperfection. Maybe it was because of the metallic flake in the paint. It was the last silver car I'll every buy. Went back to black when I picked up my 2010 Mz6 sGT and don't know why I ever chose a car other than black. Sure it's more difficult to keep clean but when it's clean it looks like a million bucks and really shows off subtle sheetmetal details. The "Ebony Black" used for the Mz 6 is deep inky black with no metallic flake and a ton of clear coat. Beautiful.

"Trendy colors" like the Honda and Mazda blues don't intertest becasue they're trendy and will be rendered obsolete by the next trendy shade of blue that comes out next year. Silver is timeless but boring. But black and Red are timeless.

I agree with the above, silver is boring unless you have a relatively rare car. Silver is the most common car color out there. If you want a color that does not show dirt, pick a metallic goldish color that's as close to the color of soil and dried mud wherever you live.

I like the fact that silver is probably the most common color out there. Means my silver car gets "lost" among the brighter hue cars going as fast as me on the freeway and likely won't get spotted first by the cops. Silver is my cloak of invisibility.

Am I the only one that likes silver cars?

siarizona says:

I like silver, I think it allows the design of the car's curves and angles to take precedence over a color. For example, a 1954 Mercedes Benz 300SL gullwing looks best in silver. On the other hand, Ferraris look best in red, and Jaguar E-types look best in British racing green. Of course, I don't own or drive any of those cars... but I like my silver Fit... stealthy and rarely washed.

I love bright metallic blues like this one! And Audi Sprint Blue...and VW's (dead) Lagoon Blue...and Mini's Electric Blue...and the 370Z's Monterey Blue...and so on and so on and so on.

Silver's good but quite boring...I like it most on very aggressive cars, where the silver cloaks them in an air of class and sophistication. Like a silver 360 Modena or Gallardo...sexy.

I like the brighter colors, such as the Bright Bahama Blue of my 07 Mazda 6i 5-door. It seems most of the current colors except for the bright blues and metallic reds are muted and too sober. BTW, I'm tried of grey and black leather being the only interior color choice. I prefer the brown/tan/beige or more natural toned leathers.

Kelly aren't you the one who also was harping on the XC60 interior for being non-bland? Perhaps two decades of Lexus has gotten to you.
