One nice thing about being in Arizona is that it's actually cool to drive a Chevrolet here. Further, people still get excited when they see a Camaro here, and several told me what a beautiful car I had.
While we were dining at Haus Murphy's (order the Paprika Schnitzel with potato pancakes as an appetizer) in Glendale, AZ (convenient if you've just come from a Padres' or Mariners' game in Peoria, AZ), we got the sincerest compliment of all. This blue 2010 Camaro 2LT with the optional RS package and six-speed automatic transmission sidled up to our 2SS long-termer.
You'll notice our Camaro friend pulled up farther than we did in his parking spot. Soon enough, he'll (or she'll) learn (as we have) not to do that.
Yes, indeed, this car is lower than you think it is (though aesthetically it would benefit from an even lower stance a la SLP's Camaro), and the black plastic guards will only help you so much.
Also, I don't care for the plain, single-piston, sliding brake calipers on the V6 Camaros. I think I have to have the V8 just so I can have 400-piston Brembo calipers.

My best friend just traded in his CTS for a cyber gray 1LT with RS package. To my dismay he got the 6AT, but it's still a great looking car. Got the sunroof at least, which makes the cabin slightly less bunker-like.

Yes, autoboy16, I do believe that is in fact the Acura TL. It looks like the previous generation. I so want to own one of those...

All I could think was "Man, the previous-gen TL was a really good looking car". The Camaro has lingered so long between concept, prototype, Transformers, and finally production that it just doesn't impress me anymore. That TL though, that's a good design. Acura really killed that car.

I think I am the only guy that likes the new TL and the MS3 front end.
On topic - love the Camaro, if I could afford to rock a second car, it would definitely be in the running.

I'm with you on the TL but you'll walk alone on the new Mazda front. I always thought the previous 3rd generation TL a bit stodgy and boring and the new one actually uses some design language from the original CL coupe, which most people don't seem to notice.

That can be done?

I'll tell you i seen a silver & plain white Camaro that is one ugly Car! The interoir is down right star wars! The back couldn't they decide what to do?You guys must answer to gm you wait til 5000 miles to dyno Camaro and you the challenger at 1776 miles and the 5.7 Hemi puts out more torque better mileage and is way more comfortable! I prefer not to meet myself coming and going i had 1968 ss camaro know that & the 1969 were great looking cars! Oh well each to his own!!!

I think I got ripped off, I only have 4 piston Brembo's on my Jeep, no idea they made 400 piston calipers.

When replacing your 400-piston brake pads, you must remember to refill your blinker fluid.
I used to try to park next to fellow SRT-4's for a while, but after my fourth note under my windshield with an attached note with a phone number asking me if I wanted to race, I quit.

cr_driver,
idk if you are being sarcastic, but the SS has a small scoop in the hood and a slightly wider front air dam (three lines versus one). Other than that they are pretty much identical, and that's a problem for me. Most people would never think there's a V6 under the hood of the blue Camaro.
And yes, the first thing I thought of when I saw the first picture is how much I want an older TL. What a good looking car. Fully loaded 2007 around $25k...oh so tempting....

Gotta love the cleaner look afforded by Arizona's wise decision to not require front plates.

LOL at how many posts there are about the TL. It def is a good looking car and I agree Acura over did it (at least on the exterior, the new interior rocks).
That said...Erin, not only do the Brembo's look way cooler, but I can't imagine how poor the V6 brakes are. That is not a lightweight car by any stretch- even with the V6. I bet those brakes are cooked fast when they are hammered on.

Its not hard to tell the difference between the v6 and the v8. The v8 has the mailslot and the v6 doesnt. Also the lower grille on the SS is bigger than the v6.
stovt001 says:

@ thedream21479: by all accounts and reviews of the V6 model I've read, the non-Brembo brakes function just fine. They don't have quite the same fade resistance as the Brembos, but aren't horrible either, and sometimes produce even better stopping distances before fade sets in. The V6 model is significantly lighter than the SS.

Once when I pulled into work, I saw a Chevy HHR in the parking lot with a vacant space beside it. So I parked my Chevy HHR next to it.

@ herrstreet, both cars, Edmunds' SS and the Blue LT, have the RS package.

V6 and V8 braking performance is almost identical. The SS is probably better equipped for the track with its Brembos but the V6 has stellar brakes as well. This car has consistently stopped in less than 115 feet from 60mph.

Erin - That black plastic piece under the front bumper is the front spoiler / air dam, not a guard. It's designed to redirect air to the sides of the car instead of underneath, to prevent lift at high speeds. It's not intended to prevent scrapes to the underside of the front bumper.

Stingray: You may call it a backseat, some call it a love bench...to each his (her) own.
Everything has multiple purposes if you want it to. Besides, these cars are limited to 155mph... I know the basic physics behind lift and drag and that little chin spoiler isn't going to make or break you at 150.
It's much better suited as a curb guard in 99% of aplications.
stingray454 says:
12:08 PM, 03/22/10
stoppre75 - That's hardly a suitable analogy.
"It's much better suited as a curb guard in 99% of aplications." I disagree. That's like saying rims are better suited as curb feelers, or who needs parking sensors when you can just hit the cars in front and behind you with your bumpers and park by feel?

Nice post Erin - I was just in downtown Glendale on Saturday night between the afternoon Mariners game and the evening Dodgers game. I couldn't talk my wife into German food so we ended up at La Piazza al Forno instead. I'm guessing you are a DDD fan as well...
