2009 BMW M3: You've Got To Be Kidding Me

M3-Left-rear-717.jpg
Another week, another BMW tire repair. This time it was the left rear on our M3. No TPMS warning, just caught it at the gas station when checking tread wear.

Stokes fixed this one for $25.

I'm not one for conspiracies but, this Stokes Tire Shop... how close are they to Edmunds?

I ordered these Summer Yokohama's to replace the All-Season Pirelli's on my current car. No shop nearby or tirerack.com had them in stock, so I had to order them from a shop down in Florida (I'm in Maryland) to get them put on my car.

I got them put on, and drove home. I drove maybe about 11 Miles on them. They were great, and fixed every problem I had with my Pirelli's.

I woke up the next morning to find a 4-Inch Screw sticking out of the sidewall in the driver's side rear tire.

Somebody has put a witch-curse on all your Bimmers. If I were you, I'd see the local witch doctor ASAP....

Perceived as a bully, but deep down, a softie…

Well props to Josh for catching that with a manual inspection. Good job being a conscientious driver.

Back in the day, I knew of a gas station that was known to carry boxes of nails/screws for easy dispersal on the local roadways. Perhaps all of those helicopters that frequent the LA area aren't news and law enforcement but rather Stoke's carpet bombing the landscape with nails.

*imagines Audi spy sneaking around the garage and propping nails and screws up against the treads of the parked BMWs*

or one of the IL readers who complains about the constant parade of BMWs in the LT fleet.

I think someone has been either put a magnet on the wheel inside the tire or has managed to magnetize the wheel itself.

Still the Stokes Chopper Nail Bomber (SCNB) and the Audi spy are good ideas too.

That's a pretty nice macro shot of the tire btw.

The Pirellis on my '86 GTI were saddled with 11 nails and screws during the 40,000 miles I had them on the car. Afterward, I never had any problems. I was haunted by those damn Pirellis...

Jeeze! What the hell?!?! Does one of your staff drive through a construction area everyday?

Or it could be that the BMW gods are angry with you?

You guys pick up more nails in more cars than I have ever picked up in my entire life of owning vehicles. You live in a CITY!! I grew up on the farm and then worked for a few years in the construction business driving around construction lots and I also had a job where I drove an average of 300 miles a day. I lived on the road. Yet only a couple of times can I remember picking up a nail....

is anyone else sick of the Edmund's InsideLine not updating these blogs for days its very disappointing they used to update all the time, now it is rare to see an update even every three days apart (or more like every 2weeks) I WISH THEY WOULD UPDATE THEIR BLOGS MORE even if its about something simple like the exhaust smell or something i miss reading them every other day if not every day.

^ huh? There are many new entries every week day, on both of the two blogs (here and Straighline) that I read (daily).

Is it me, or am I the only one freaked out by the $25 fee to fix a tire...ESPECIALLY when you guys have bought THOUSANDS of dollars worth of tires there?

Maybe this is just a California thing....I haven't paid to fix a flat in the 20 or so years I've been driving.

I believe they have weekends off. That's why there are very few updates over the weekend. And even then, I believe they have the site set to autopost things on Monday.
